Bagley man charged in Mahnomen stabbing

MAHNOMEN Minn. - A 24-year-old Bagley man made his initial court appearance Friday on an assault charge for allegedly stabbing a 29-year-old man near here Wednesday.

MAHNOMEN Minn. - A 24-year-old Bagley man made his initial court appearance Friday on an assault charge for allegedly stabbing a 29-year-old man near here Wednesday.

David Michael Hare is charged with first-degree assault in connection with the stabbing of Daniel Paul Loftus, according to a Mahnomen County Sheriff's Department news release.

Authorities responded to a report of a fight at the Riverview Apartments near Mahnomen late Wednesday and arrested Hare after determining a stabbing took place there.

Mahnomen County District Court Judge Tamara Yon ordered Hare to be held on $75,000 cash bail for an unconditional release or $50,000 bond/$5,000 cash bail for release on numerous conditions, the release stated.

Hare was also ordered to have no contact with Loftus, who is also a Bagley resident, and to submit to DNA testing.

Hare's next court appearance is a pretrial hearing slated for Feb. 5.
