MOORHEAD - A Moorhead man has been charged in Clay County District Court with five counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct after prosecutors accused him of repeatedly raping a 7-year-old child.
In a separate case, James Allen Haats, 29, of Moorhead, was charged with two more counts of felony second-degree criminal sexual conduct with a different victim who is 9.
Court documents state that Haats admitted in an interview with a Moorhead police detective that he sexually assaulted the 7-year-old once a month for the past three years. In the other case, documents state Haats told police he assaulted the 9-year-old, but it wasn't as often as the other child victim because this victim "didn't seem to like it."
In a court appearance Wednesday, bail for Haats was set at $150,000, with conditions including no contact with people under age 18, or $300,000 without conditions. His next court appearance is set for Aug. 9.
