Barry Nelson, executive director of the Metro Youth Partnership, filed Tuesday to run for a seat on the Fargo Park Board.
He will be vying for one of three spots up for election on the board. So far, he will be facing incumbents Ron Sorvaag, Joe Deutsch and Mary Johnson.
Nelson, 902 42nd Ave. S., said he's dedicated to helping the area's youth and wants to improve Fargo's parks and make them more accessible.
"I want to be sure we have enough parks for non-sports people" and to promote walking and biking.
"I want to be sure we have enough green space," Nelson said, promising to seek ideas and opinions from the community. "I think it's to have a balance."
