The family of Savannah Anselmo is hosting a benefit bike run starting fromthe Moorhead VFW on June 7 to raise awareness fororgan donation.
Savannah is the daughter of Robert and Ana Anselmo of Florida, and the niece of Ozzie and Pattie Peraza of Kindred, N.D. Anselmo was diagnosed in April 2007 with biliary atresia, a disease that affects bile ducts and can lead to liver failure. She required a liver transplant in December.
Funds raised from the run will be used for Anselmo's medical expenses, and a portion will be given to the Children's Organ Transplant Association.
Registration will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the Moorhead VFW, where the ride will leave at 11. The entry fee for a rider is $20, and the cost for a passenger is $5.
The group plans to travel around the Minnesota lakes area, stopping for lunch at the Frazee Liquor Store and Event Center. Lunch is included in the entry fee. Entertainment will be provided by area musician Todd Sisson.
