Bergine E. Halstensgaard, 95, Northwood, died Monday, Feb. 9, 2004, in Deaconess Health Center, Northwood.
Bergine E. Gjernes was born Sept. 25, 1908, in High Landing, Minn., where she grew up and attended school. On Nov. 16, 1929, she married Olaf Halstensgaard in High Landing. They lived near Rindal, Minn., and then near Goodridge, Minn., from 1937 to 1945. They farmed and owned a meat market. They moved to Gary, Minn., in 1945. He died in 1956. She entered the nursing home in 1999.
She is survived by a son, Gaylen (Noreen), Milnor, N.D.; two daughters, Thelma (Oscar) Eide, Mayville, N.D., Betty (Gilman) Beck, Northwood; a brother, Oscar, Rockville, Md.; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Thursday from 1 to 4, with a prayer service at 2, in Deaconess Health Center, Northwood.
Funeral: Saturday at 2 in Gary Lutheran Church.
