Big John Bates and the Voodoo Dollz

Scores of rockabilly bands have positioned their throwback material as a tongue-in-cheek soundtrack to hell, but Big John Bates ups the aesthetic ante by also adding a burlesque show. The revolving cast of booze-pushing, audience-interacting dancers that Bates calls The Voodoo Dollz gives the act extra edge in live form. The Vancouver-based band is a consistent visitor to Fargo, but new cuts from its upcoming album "Bangtown" and even a Christmas tune, "One Horse Slay," should be fresh listens for repeat customers. The Hot Button will open the 10 p.m. show at The Aquarium. Cover is $10. (701) 235-5913
