United Blood Services is offering a year-end challenge to encourage area blood donation.
Executive director Terry Knuth of Fargo and center director Connie Morris of Bismarck have agreed to sleep overnight on the roofs of their respective centers Jan. 7 if the blood provider makes its annual goal of 73,721 units by Dec. 31.
To meet its annual goal, United Blood Services must collect 2,665 units of blood at its remaining blood drives and centers in North Dakota, Minnesota and South Dakota.
The blood provider also emphasizes the need for type O blood donors.
Donors are encouraged to make appointments before Dec. 31 by calling (701) 235-3091 in Fargo or (701) 258-4512 in Bismarck or visiting www.bloodhero.com .
