RED WING, Minn. - Authorities say a body found in the woods near Hay Creek Trail in Red Wing may have been there for at least six months.
Goodhue County Sheriff Dean Albers says the body appears to be that of a 6-foot-tall white male.
A name found on the body may indicate the man is from outside the area, but Albers says it could take weeks to confirm the man's identity.
A man found the body Thursday while tapping maple trees in Featherstone Township.
The man told deputies he saw something covered with snow two weeks ago, but back then he thought it was the remains of a decomposing deer.

Albers says that after snow melted recently, it was easy to see there was clothing on the body.
