WATFORD CITY, N.D. -- The body of a Hillsboro man missing since late July is believed to have been found in the Badlands, the McKenzie County Sheriff's Office reported.

Authorities believe the body of Duncan Templer was found Saturday morning by hunters, who reported finding a deceased male east of Highway 85 off of Forest Service Road 828.

The 51-year-old, who had been missing since July 24, was distraught about a recent lung-cancer diagnosis and had told his family he was going into the Badlands to commit suicide.

The body was found about 3 miles east of Templer's last known location. His semi was found empty and unlocked on a Highway 85 overlook south of the Theodore Roosevelt National Park North Unit.

There were no signs of foul play and the body has been taken to the state medical examiner for identification.
