River Falls, WI -- Last week Thursday morning a fisherman stumbled across what turned out to be a pipe bomb lying on the bank of the Kinnickinnic River.
The homemade device, about six inches long, was later rendered inoperable by bomb technicians. It was kept as evidence by the Pierce County Sheriff's Department.
Sheriff Everett Muhlhausen said the pipe bomb was found just outside the city limits in the town of River Falls.
River Falls police were sent to the scene first. The area was later secured by members of the U.S. Army's 788th Ordnance Company from Fort McCoy and sheriff's deputies.
The sheriff said his department is still looking for suspects and welcomes the public's help.
