Hunter Thunder, the 18-month-old boy who spent more than 30 minutes underwater in North Dakota's Devils Lake, will be discharged today from MeritCare Children's Hospital.

He will be transported by ambulance to Children's Care Hospital and School in Sioux Falls, S.D.

On June 20, doctors at MeritCare said Hunter showed signs of permanent brain damage and will require intensive nursing care.

Hunter and his 3-year-old brother, Bryan, were in a parked car May 13 when they put it in gear. The car plunged into the lake, trapping the boys for about 35 minutes until a diver rescued them.

Bryan Thunder died later that day.
