MOORHEAD - A Moorhead man was arrested on suspicion of reckless discharge of a firearm and felon in possession of a firearm after his neighbor found bullet holes in his garage on Sunday.

The neighbor initially called police at 3:47 p.m. to report three bullet holes in the back of his garage in the 1400 block of 19th Street South.

He called again just after 5 p.m. and said he saw his neighbor putting a rifle in his shed, Moorhead Police Lt. Tory Jacobson said.

Marvin Lee Knoell, 58, was arrested and taken to the Clay County Jail. He allegedly told police he was shooting squirrels with a .22-caliber rifle, Jacobson said.

It's against the law to discharge a firearm - even a BB gun - within Moorhead city limits, he said.
