Carrington, ND, man arrested for DUI after car catches fire

NEAR EDMONDS, N.D.--A Carrington man was arrested for DUI Thursday after the vehicle he was driving went into the ditch and caught fire on Highway 52, 10 miles south of Carrington, the North Dakota Highway Patrol said.

Around 9:40 p.m., 28-year-old John Reyes was driving a Pontiac G6 north on Highway 52 when he drifted off the road and into the ditch. Reyes then tried to correct his steering, slid across both lanes and went into the other ditch.

The highway patrol says that the vehicle became stuck and caught on fire and the Pontiac had significant damage to the engine compartment area.

The crash remains under investigation.
