'Cat in the Hat' at the water station of Fargo Marathon

FARGO-Laura Kowatch was one of many who lined the Scheels Fargo Marathon route at water stations to keep runners well hydrated. She was positioned near Edgewood Golf Course at the three-mile mark.

But Kowatch was doing more than passing out water. Dressed as the beloved Dr. Seuss character "Cat in the Hat," she also was making a plug for children's literacy on behalf of the Minnesota Reading Corps.

It wasn't clear that the runners got the literary statement she was making with her wardrobe. But they were happy to see her just the same.

"They're very appreciative," she said. "We get a lot of thank yous."

Or, as Dr. Seuss's "Cat in the Hat" might have said, "Look at me! Look at me! Look at me NOW! It is fun to have fun. But you have to know how."
