The search for a new superintendent of the Fargo Catholic Schools Network will begin this fall.
After six years of leading the Fargo private schools, Superintendent Kyle Edgerton suddenly resigned earlier this month, citing personal reasons.
David Haney, who serves as deacon at Holy Cross Catholic Church in West Fargo, was named the interim superintendent for the remainder of the year.
This week, the schools' board of directors announced that Haney will also continue to serve in the temporary role through the next school year.
That will allow the board to "be in a better position to select the new superintendent," said the board in a statement.

The board includes pastors of five sponsoring parishes, the secretary of education for the Diocese of Fargo, a lay treasurer, the chairman of the board for the Diocese of Fargo and Bishop Samuel Aquila.
Board members will begin a search for superintendent this fall and hope to select a permanent leader that will begin the next school year.
Haney was also the Catholic schools' interim superintendent in spring 2007.
"We are grateful to Deacon Haney for his willingness to continue to serve our school community," the statement continued.
A message left Friday with Tanya Watterud, the Catholic Diocese of Fargo's communications director, was not returned. A message left with Edgerton was also not returned. He was the schools' superintendent since May 2004.
