FARGO— Sanford Health hosts its fifth annual Change in 24 fundraiser for cancer patients.
All of the money raised during Thursday's 24-hour fundraiser will help patients pay for treatment-related costs like transportation, hotels, and other miscellaneous costs.
Each day, more than 300 people travel to Sanford's Roger Maris Cancer Center for treatment. Many of those patients travel upwards of 50 miles.
"To receive some assistance really helps so that they can concentrate on other things such as how am I going to get to the cancer center," says Hillery Mork, the Sanford development manager.
Proceeds from the give-a-thon will help to lift financial burdens off patients' plates. Mork said they hope to raise $20,000 during Nov. 12.
