MINNEAPOLIS - A suspect was charged Wednesday with fatally stabbing a St. Paul man on a Minneapolis light-rail transit platform last weekend.

MINNEAPOLIS - A suspect was charged Wednesday with fatally stabbing a St. Paul man on a Minneapolis light-rail transit platform last weekend.

Anthony Bowker, 25, of Minneapolis was charged with second-degree murder in Hennepin County District Court in connection with the Saturday death of Gerald Wayne Davis, 58, of St. Paul.

Bowker was being held in the Hennepin County Jail on Wednesday in lieu of $2 million bail.

According to a criminal complaint, Bowker was seen on surveillance video chasing Davis around the upper level of the Blue Line’s Lake Street-Midtown Station before catching Davis and stabbing him multiple times in the neck with a switchblade knife.

Davis fled downstairs and collapsed. Bowker followed him and kicked him in the head after he fell, the complaint added. The Hennepin County medical examiner ruled that Bowker died of multiple sharp-force injuries.

The surveillance video showed two other men with Bowker on the platform of the Lake Street station. Additional footage taken 15 minutes before the stabbing showed the same two men arguing with Davis on Lake Street, then later pointing him out to Bowker on the platform, according to the complaint.

Bowker told police his two companions had had an argument with an “unknown man,” and he admitted to later stabbing that man on the platform, according to the complaint.
