Friday
How does a lineup consisting of a twangy bar band, a polished pop-rock act attracting national attention and a political noise trio make perfect sense? It's all about the ladies. The bill on Friday at The Aquarium is totally girl power. Topping it is Chrissie Jo and the GOBs, a quartet fronted by its namesake, Chrissie Holzer, who also sings for local mainstay The Krims. The GOBs (Good Old Band) is all over the place musically, but as the acronym implies, has a soft spot for dust kicking. Rounding out the night are Sick of Sarah, four women from Minneapolis that have notched a blurb in Spin and landed a spot in an MTV-sponsored virtual battle of the bands. Their radio-ready sound will be countered by the jarring lo-fi ire of local opener Upskirts, also an all-lady outfit. Show starts at 10 p.m Cover is $5. (7091) 235-5913
