Christopher Leo Zurn, 88, Moorhead died Wednesday, November 26, 2003, in his home.

Christopher Leo Zurn was born on September 25, 1915, in Callaway, MN. He grew up and attended school in Callaway. He entered the Army in the 34th Division, 125th Field Artillery Battalion in 1941. He participated in Tunisia, Naples-Foggia, Rome-Arno, North Apennines, and the PO Valley campaigns. He received the European African Middle Eastern Theater Service Medal, American Defense Service Medal and six overseas service bars. He was then discharged as a Sergeant in 1945. He was married to Clara Oldenburg on May 31, 1946, in Moorhead, MN. He started Zurn Plastering Company in 1948 and was joined shortly thereafter by his life long friend, nephew and business partner, Marcell Zurn. He worked until his retirement in 1978. During that time he built many homes in Moorhead including the home they resided in.

Christopher had various hobbies including woodworking, leatherwork, fishing, gardening, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Clara; sons, Louis, Owatonna, MN, Michael (LouAnn), West Fargo, ND, Paul (Marcy), Amenia, ND, John (Lynn), Chaska, MN, Matt (Kim), Fargo, ND, Christopher (Roxanne) II, Moorhead, MN; daughters, Barbara (Jim) Vargo, North Ridgeville, OH, Patricia (Mike) Roehrick, Bismarck, ND, Gail (Don) Whitman, Lake George, MN; one brother, Lawrence (Gertrude), Callaway, MN; twenty-five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

His parents, five brothers and two sisters precede him in death.

In Lieu of flowers donations can be given to United Blood Services of Fargo, ND, or the Veterans Administration of Fargo, ND.

Visitation: Sunday, November 30, 2003, from 4-6 p.m. with prayer service at 6 p.m. at Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN.

Funeral: Monday, December 1, 2003, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Moorhead, MN.

Interment: St. Mary's Cemetery, Callaway, MN.
