The city of Fargo - which is competing in the "Cans for Cash City Recycling Challenge" - wants residents to recycle as many aluminum beverage cans as possible from today through Sept. 16.
Mayor Bruce Furness said the competition will be against cities of similar size.
Residents can help Fargo win the challenge by recycling aluminum cans at area dropoff sites, and getting cash for them or donating the proceeds at MinnKota Recycling Redemption Centers.
MinnKota offers 33 cents per pound for up to 100 pounds on aluminum beverage cans.
Residents can visit www.fargorecycles.com to download a coupon for an extra 5 cents per pound on their cans or use a similar coupon recently mailed to homes by MinnKota Recycling. Only one coupon per visit will be accepted.
