Clay court roundup: Man sentenced on burglary charges

A Moorhead man has been sentenced in Clay County District Court to four years and three months in prison on a charge of first-degree burglary.

Jamie M. Carlson, 21, 1003 18½ St. S., Moorhead, admitted in court to entering a woman's residence without permission in violation of an order for protection in February.

He was fined $50 and given credit for having served 260 days.

In other recent court action:

- Shawn C. Bercier, 28, Fargo, was convicted of six counts of third-degree burglary and one count of theft.

He was sentenced to a total of two years and nine months in prison and fined $100. He was also ordered to pay restitution.

Bercier admitted in court to breaking into storage lockers in Moorhead in September 2001. He also admitted to taking jackets from a store in Moorhead in April.

- Patrick J. Omalley, 48, LeCenter, Minn., was convicted of criminal vehicular operation resulting in great bodily harm.

He was fined $300 and given 120 days in jail.

Omalley admitted in court that he was driving under the influence April 25 when his vehicle crashed head-on into another vehicle on Interstate 94.

Another person was critically injured in the crash, according to court documents.

- Rene Flores, 39, 2408 3rd Ave. N., Moorhead, was convicted of third-degree assault.

He was fined $1,000 and given six months in jail, with additional time stayed for five years.

Flores admitted in court to striking another man with a baseball bat in July.

- David M. Stoffel, 40, 1317 Broadway, Fargo, was convicted of two counts of nonpayment of child support.

He was fined $100 and given 60 days in jail.

He was also ordered to pay toward arrears.

At the time he was charged earlier this year, the arrears stood at $94,000, according to court documents.

- Malinda J. Lockner, 27, 816 24th Ave. S., Moorhead, was convicted of fourth-degree controlled substance crime and simulated controlled substance crime.

She was fined $700 and given 120 days in jail.

Lockner admitted in court to selling methamphetamine and also to selling a substance she claimed to be methamphetamine, which tests later indicated was not a controlled substance.

The incidents occurred in July.

- Jennifer G. Barrera, 35, 1218 2nd Ave. N., Moorhead, was convicted of fourth-degree controlled substance crime.

She was fined $50 and given 60 days in jail. She was given credit for having served 40 days.

Barrera admitted in court to being involved in a methamphetamine sale in July.

- Scott H. Olsen, 36, 1007 2nd Ave. E., West Fargo, was convicted of third-degree burglary.

He was fined $1,000 and given 90 days in jail, with additional time stayed for five years.

He admitted in court that he entered a residence in Moorhead in August with the intention of taking property.
