FOSSTON, Minn. - The driver of a pickup truck was thrown from the vehicle when it rolled Tuesday about five miles east of Fosston, the Polk County Sheriff's Office said.

Scott Sander, 56, of rural Clearbrook, was taken by ambulance to Essentia Health in Fosston and later transferred to Altru Hospital in Grand Forks.

He was driving a 2001 Ford pickup east on Polk County Road 1 when he lost control and drove off the road into the south ditch, the sheriff's office said. The pickup vaulted over an approach and went through trees, coming to rest on its roof on the edge of a bean field.

Sander was not wearing his seat belt, the sheriff's office said.

The crash remains under investigation.
