MINNEWAUKAN, N.D. - A 24-year-old Colorado woman died Friday in a one-vehicle accident on U.S. Highway 281, north of here.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol said Tanya Broden of Fort Collins was traveling north Thursday night around 10:30 p.m. across the junction of Highway 19, when her car left the road and immediately entered the water northwest of the intersection.

Authorities received a call around 8:37 a.m. Friday from a passerby who discovered a portion of the vehicle protruding from the water.

Broden, the vehicle's lone occupant, was transported to Mercy Hospital in Devils Lake, where she was pronounced dead, authorities said.

Broden is a former Churchs Ferry resident, according to a death notice from Nelson Funeral Home in Leeds.
