Nine area high school students were the recipients of a Concordia College/Forum journalism award and participated this week in a five-day newsroom internship at The Forum.
Concordia English professor Scott Olsen and assistant professor Cathy McMullen, who also heads the college's print journalism program, selected the students after reviewing high school journalism work from throughout North Dakota and Minnesota.
This was the first year the awards were given. Students were either juniors or seniors this past school year.
They are Kaiya Spilde, Greg Larson, Kristen Pinks and Carolyn Deutsch, all of Bismarck; Trac Dang and Caitlin Lachapelle Gustafson, Burnsville, Minn.,; Katherine Kenner, Devils Lake, N.D.; and Sarah Koste and Joe Connor of West Fargo.
