If the 2008 general election is any guide, 40 percent of Cass County voters will cast their ballots before Election Day on Nov. 2.
As of Wednesday, the most recent tally available, Cass County had received about 2,600 absentee ballots, County Auditor Mike Montplaisir said Thursday.
The county is adding a third early-voting center, in Casselton, supplementing locations in Fargo and West Fargo in providing voters more convenience to get to the polls.
"I think having a lot more opportunities allows more people to vote," Montplaisir said.
Also, he added, the crush of voters flocking to cast early votes made a third location logical.

"We really got overwhelmed with people in 2008," Montplaisir said, when more than 20,000 voters flocked to early-voting centers.
Cass County's early-voting precinct locations and times:
- Doublewood Inn, 3333 13th Ave. S., Fargo. Oct. 25 through Oct. 29, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Veterans Memorial Arena, 1201 7th Ave. E., West Fargo. Oct. 25 through Oct. 29, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Governor's Inn, 2050 Governor's Drive, Casselton. Oct. 26 through Oct. 28, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Also, before Election Day, voters can stop at the Auditor's Office at the Cass County Courthouse, 211 9th St. S., Fargo, to fill out absentee ballots, or download one from www.casscountynd.gov .
Mailed absentee ballots must be postmarked before the Nov. 2 election.
Voters living abroad, including residents serving in the military, can vote via e-mail, an option that also is growing in popularity, Montplaisir said.
