BISMARCK - A drunken driver who struck two teenage boys, severely injuring one of them, lost her North Dakota Supreme Court argument that a judge's 21-month prison sentence was an illegal punishment.

Sharol Salveson of Mandan had a blood-alcohol level of 0.26 percent when she hit two teenage boys who were walking their bicycles along a Ward County road near Surrey just after 1 a.m. on April 3, 2005, court records say.

One of the boys, Trevor Miller, 15, suffered a severely injured leg that required more than seven operations. Salveson, who had two previous drunken-driving convictions in the past five years, was booked for DUI and aggravated reckless driving.
