A meeting to explain the details of a nine-day study tour of Cuba next spring sponsored by the Minnesota State University Languages and Cultures department will be held at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday in Room 218 of the campus student union.
The tour is expected to leave May 19 and will include tours of Miami's Little Havana, and the University's Casa Bacardi to explore Cuban history and visits with rum factory workers, American journalists and high school students in Havana, Cuba. Other highlights range from tours of a crocodile-breeding farm, Indian villages, sugar mills and the site of the Bay of Pigs invasion to Trinidad's architectural restoration, an ecological preserve and the site of a Che Guevara battlefield.
The tour, which will cost an estimated $2,300, is open to students and the public. It may be taken for a once-credit class in Spanish culture, history and geography, or an independent study in history. Included is round-trip airfare, some meals, all bilingual tours and eight overnight hotel accommodations.
