FARGO - Davies High School students recently donated $2,185 to a Heifer International project that will provide cows, small animals and training in farming techniques for families in Vietnam.

The schoolwide fundraiser was organized by the world language department in March for National Foreign Languages Month.

Language students were grouped into teams and competed to raise money. Top finishers were:

  • First place - Team Pig (French III, Latin II, III and IV, Spanish I and II), donated $369.
  • Second place - Team Sheep (French II and IV, German II, Spanish 1B), donated $313.
  • Third place - Team Rabbit (Chinese II and III, French 1B, Latin I and Spanish III), donated $282.

The rest of the student body also could donate.
All money raised goes to a Heifer International project in Vietnam, where the government doubles the amount given by donors. The project will affect more than 1,400 families in the Mekong Delta region.
