The Fargo Park Board voted 5-0 Tuesday to approve an agreement with the developer of the Deer Creek subdivision to create 12.5 acres of parkland.
The $760,000 cost of two playgrounds, picnic shelters, recreational trails and other amenities will be assessed against 231 acres, said Jim Larson, the district's director of finance and human resources.
The development is east of County Road 17 and the Sheyenne River, and south of 52nd Avenue South, Larson said.
Construction on the park could begin this year or in 2011, Larson said in a memo to the board.
In other business, the board approved:

The purchase of 1.6 acres of land for $325,000 at 1531 5th Ave. N. Larson said the agreement links land purchased for a senior transport facility and a park district maintenance shop with the district's Unicorn Park. It also improves access for the planned shop, he said.
- Buying nearly $8,000 in video and audio equipment to broadcast the board's meetings on Fargo's public access cable channel.
- Deeding four acres of park district land along Drain 53 to the Southeast Cass Water Resource District to widen the drain.
The deal is contingent on the water resource district granting a permit or easement to allow a recreational train along the ditch.
