Atmosphere

Minneapolis rappers are one of the most consistent concert draws in Fargo. They're here so often it can sometimes feel like a far-north suburb of the scene.

Seeing the flagship of Twin Cities hip-hop - Atmosphere - sail up Interstate 94 is a bit more rare.

The duo's Wednesday show at The Venue will mark its first visit to Fargo in more than two years.

Make no mistake, though, the wide influence of the pair - Slug with his intimate, darkly humorous rhymes, and Ant's snare-and-soul beats - extends to the many Minneapolis hip-hop artists who are more familiar to Fargo-Moorhead.

Arguments abound concerning who is best, but there is no denying who the scene's central players are.

It doesn't take six degrees of Atmosphere to link to the biggest Twin Cities hip-hop acts that have played here recently. It only takes one. (Even for some of those who don't share the label Slug and Ant helped form, Rhymesayers Entertainment.)
