Blake Andrew Sundvor appeared last week on the charges and is scheduled for a Feb. 22 court hearing.

Court papers say Sundvor contracted with people in California, Ohio, Montana, Michigan and Canada for the sale of products and/or services, but he never delivered. The total value of the services and products was approximately $45,000.

Sundvor, who also goes by the name Blake Mastin, gained media attention last year for claiming he invented the cap to plug the Deepwater Horizon oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. A BP spokesman denied the claim, saying the capping system used in the oil spill was not based on Sundvor's design.
