Devils Lake man gathers signatures in an attempt to recall Ramsey County States Attorney

DEVILS LAKE — Nearly three dozen people have signed a petition to recall the current Ramsey County State Attorney.

Terry Fuller has collected about 30 signatures for a petition to call for a new election for the states attorney seat.

Fuller's son Danny was killed by a Devils Lake Police officer a year and a half ago. Ramsey County State’s Attorney Kari Agotness did not press charges against the officer that shot and killed Fuller. Agotness said the police officer did not intend to pull the trigger but instead had an involuntary muscular contraction.

In a statement, Agotness said she sympathizes with the Fullers.

"I must review the evidence presented after investigations and apply that evidence to the law as it relates to charging someone with a crime," Agotness said. "Those decisions are often difficult and not always popular but are the result of the investigations, evidence and the law."

Terry Fuller said he plans to step up his efforts to collect 1,300 signatures after the first of the year.
