DILWORTH - Police are investigating a burglary over the weekend at the Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch thrift store in Dilworth.

The store at 1500 Center Ave. just opened in February. Dilworth Police Chief Dave Miller said says someone broke out a back-door window to gain access to the building late Saturday or early Sunday.

An unknown amount of money was stolen from the office, and police plan to meet with store officials today to figure out how much was taken, he said.

The theft was reported about 11:30 a.m. Sunday by employees coming in for an afternoon shift, he said. The facility had been locked up at 7 p.m. Saturday, he said.

The door that was broken into is in the area where the store accepts donations, and it appears that some donations were made after the store closed Saturday, Miller said.

"If there was anybody that did drop off any donations from Saturday night to Sunday morning, we are asking them to contact the Dilworth Police Department to see if we can kind of narrow down the timeline a little bit," he said.

The department's number is (218) 287-2666.
