The search continues in Lake Ashtabula for the body of Andrea Arbuckle.

The Barnes County (N.D.) Sheriff's Department, Corps of Engineers and North Dakota Game and Fish crews continued the search for Arbuckle who was reported missing at about 1:40 a.m. Friday after swimming from a pontoon boat on the lake.

Divers suspended their work shortly before dark Friday.

The search is focusing on an area of the dammed lake that is four miles south of Sibley, N.D., or roughly at the halfway point between Sibley and the Baldhill Dam.

The North Dakota Game and Fish Department had tried using side-scanning sonar, but that part of the search was halted Saturday, according to Pete Fendt, president of Valley Water Rescue.

Fendt said Saturday afternoon that the next step in the search may be to use underwater cameras. He said with the visibility under water at five to seven feet, cameras may be effective.

Lake Ashtabula is about 12 miles northwest of Valley City. It is formed by the Baldhill Dam as part of the Sheyenne River.
