Many people will complain that their joint aches are much worse when the air pressure is low. Okay, but why would air of lower density make joints ache? What is the cause? Air pressure change is actually much greater in the vertical than the horizontal. The pressure change in riding an elevator to the eighteenth floor of the Radisson Tower is greater than the difference between Fargo's all-time high and record low pressure records at Hector Airport. Yet people who work on the 18th floor of the Radisson are not known for having terrible body aches.

It is certainly possible that there is some element of weather frequently associated with low pressure that causes body aches, but it is also possible that this is just another myth propagated by the power of suggestion. No one is suggesting that the aches are not real. But it might be that the cause is not air pressure.
