Fargo radio station The River 95.1 will hold its annual burger fund-raiser from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. today on the U.S. Bank plaza in downtown Fargo.
Proceeds go to the station's Christmas gift program. The station gives money, usually about $500, to families or individuals in need each December.
Fargo firefighters will flip the burgers, which Hardee's donated. Hardee's staff also will be on hand to make sure the burgers are properly cooked.
Today's menu also includes chips from Barrel O' Fun, ice cream treats from Land O' Lakes and sodas from Pepsi.
Marcoux Corner, an acappella group, will provide entertainment.

Whirly Girls will debut its Christmas gift bracelet. One of the charms on the bracelet is a Christmas gift box. The jewelry company, owned by Susan Neuenschwander of Fargo and Shelly DeMotte of Kansas City, will donate a portion of the proceeds from the sale of the bracelet to River 95's Christmas gift program.
River 95 will broadcast live from the plaza, starting at 6 a.m., providing the weather cooperates, station program director Dan Michaels said.
Fund-raiser organizers planned for 1,200 diners last year, and 1,400 showed up, according to Michaels. They ran out of food, so they had to go back to the providers for more.
This year they're planning for 1,400 diners.
Lunch is free. However, diners are encouraged to make a donation of $5 per burger. Most people donate more than that.
"We average about $10 per person because everybody is so generous," Michaels said.
