The driver of a pickup died when he lost control of his truck about 8:45 p.m. Sunday on Wilkin County Road 19 about five miles south of Rothsay.

Barry Berend, 35, Doran, Minn., was found dead at the scene.

His three passengers, including two of his children, were injured in the accident.

Dillion, 10, and Nicole Berend, 9, were taken to St. Francis Hospital in Breckenridge, Minn., and were treated and released.

Michael McHugh, 39, no address listed, was held for observation at the same hospital.

Berend lost control of his vehicle when he drifted to the shoulder and tried to swerve back onto the road, according to the Wilkin County Sheriff's Department.
