FARGO — Essentia Health is looking for volunteers to assist in several of their hospital facilities.
Volunteer opportunities are varied and include spending time in medical units and the clinic to help patients and visitors find their way around, stocking, working in the cafeteria and many more service options.
“At Essentia Health, volunteers are instrumental in our mission of making a healthy difference in people’s lives,” said Kerri Anderson, volunteer supervisor at Essentia. “Every one of our volunteers has the unique opportunity to brighten the day of our patients and play a special role in the healing process.”

In an effort to ensure the safety and well-being of patients and staff, Essentia volunteers must:
- Sign up for a weekly four-hour shift.
- Agree to a background check.
- Be vaccinated against COVID-19.
- Remain vaccinated against the flu between October and March.
- Wear a mask and any other required PPE while on duty.
Many of the available positions are excellent fits for students, according to a statement released by Essentia Health. It also may meet requirements for some graduate-level programs.
“COVID-19 really put a dent in our volunteer pool, and we are actively trying to rebuild it,” said Erica Busta, Essentia’s volunteer program manager. “There are ample opportunities across our system to get involved and give back to your community by way of volunteering.”
