GRAND FORKS. N.D. - A national conference on "The Ethics of Bio-medical Research and Practice" is scheduled Oct. 24-26 at the Alerus Center here.
The three-day conference is comprised of three concurrent conferences dealing with major aspects of current bioethical debate. The three conferences are "The Social Consequences of the New Biology," "Rethinking the Relation of Law and Ethics: Biomedical Challenges" and "Assessing Ethical Judgments about the Beginning and End of Life."
Keynote speakers and topics are Cecil Helman on "Traditions and Cultures," Jeffrey Kahn on "Little Cells, Big Issues: The Ethics and Policy Debate around Embryonic Stem Cell Research," and William Winslade on "Ascending the Slippery Slopes."
