FARGO - Fargo police arrested a 20-year-old man early Wednesday in connection with a car-prowling tip, the fifth such arrest in two weeks made possible because of calls from members of the public, Police Lt. Joel Vettel said.
In Wednesday's incident, police received an anonymous call at 1:45 a.m. that three males were checking car doors in a parking lot in the 4300 block of 17th Avenue South.
As officers headed for that area, one officer spotted a man in a car in a parking lot in the 4500 block of 16th Avenue South.
When the man got out of the car and began walking away, the officer stopped him and determined he was not the owner of the car.
The man, who was identified as Victor A. Soro, 20, of Fargo, faces charges of unlawful entry of a motor vehicle, hindering and resisting arrest, according to Vettel, who said Soro lives in an apartment building adjacent to the parking lot where the incident occurred.

Vettel stressed that the chances of a vehicle being targeted by prowlers is reduced if owners lock their doors and do not leave anything valuable in their cars and trucks that would be visible to a passerby.
