FARGO – A driver fleeing police went the wrong way on Interstate 29 and crashed on Monday, the North Dakota Highway Patrol said in a news release.
When Fargo police tried stopping a Ford Taurus driven by Brent Duursma, 31, of Fargo, he allegedly refused and drove northbound onto the southbound ramp of I-29 at 13th Avenue South, the patrol said.
Another Ford Taurus driven by Andrew Burns, 25, of Moorhead, swerved to avoid Duursma and crashed, the patrol said.
Duursma continued northbound, crossing various lanes, until he crashed into a barrier head on at about 4 p.m., the patrol said.
Duursma, who was not wearing a seat belt, was taken to Essential Health for treatment of injuries that were not life threatening and has charges pending from police, the patrol said.
