The post meets monthly to train on topics such as fire attack, auto extrication, personal protective equipment and first aid. Explorers are also encouraged to participate in community and charity events supported by International Association of Fire Fighters Local 642.

There will be a recruitment meeting Tuesday at the Public Safety Building, 4630 15th Ave. N. The recruitment meeting is open to those interested in becoming an explorer and their parents. Youths and their parents who submit the application from the website are also welcome to learn more about the program at the recruitment meeting.
