FARGO – A Fargo man with a warrant out for his arrest hit a police officer in the face and kicked out a squad car window before being booked in Cass County Jail on Thursday, police said.

Police located Taylor James Meyer, 22, because he and another person were connected to a hit and run involving a mailbox, said Fargo police Sgt. Shannon Ruziska.

When police caught up with Meyer and the other person, Meyer resisted arrest and struck an officer in the face, Ruziska said.

When police finally got Meyer into the squad car, he kicked out one of the windows, said Ruziska, who added that the officer hit by Meyer did not need any medical attention.

Meyer is being held at Cass County Jail pending possible charges of assault on a police officer, criminal mischief to a vehicle and resisting a police officer.

The warrant for his arrest stems from a charge of driving under a suspended or revoked license.
