Fargo man accused of molesting 5-year-old

FARGO - A 28-year-old is accused of molesting a 5-year-old girl in a charge of gross sexual imposition filed in Cass County District Court on Monday.

FARGO - A 28-year-old is accused of molesting a 5-year-old girl in a charge of gross sexual imposition filed in Cass County District Court on Monday.

Edmond Lamont Alexander of Fargo was arrested about 1 a.m. Sunday after police received a report of an alleged sexual assault on Saturday night, Lt. Joel Vettel said.

According to a police report filed with the charges, the mother of the alleged victim discovered Alexander naked standing over the girl's bed on Saturday night. Alexander knew the 5-year-old, police say in the report.

According to the police report, Alexander claimed he and the girl were playing a nonsexual "game" to help her sleep.

In an initial appearance in court on Monday, Judge Wade Webb set his bail at $50,000 cash or bond.
