Fargo man charged after AMVETS fight

(UPDATED 12:30 p.m.) A Fargo man was arrested on an aggravated assault charge after a fight at the AMVETS bar sent another man to the hospital Monday night.

(UPDATED 12:30 p.m.) A Fargo man was arrested on an aggravated assault charge after a fight at the AMVETS bar sent another man to the hospital Monday night.

Shane Doty, 40, 116 11th St. S., was taken to the Cass County Jail, Fargo Police Sgt. Jeff Skuza said.

According to a police report, Doty got into a verbal fight with Marlowe Hiller, 58, Fargo, at the bar shortly after 8 p.m. Doty then pushed Hiller, who fell backward and was knocked unconscious, the report said.

On Tuesday, police said Hiller suffered a head wound and was taken to the emergency room at MeritCare Hospital.

Police would not his condition, but said Wednesday in a press release that he is still being treated at MeritCare.
