A 39-year-old Fargo man died early Monday from injuries suffered in a three-vehicle crash near Starbuck, Minn.

The victim was the driver of a car that went out of control on a slippery road and was struck head-on by a semi after the car crossed into the oncoming lane of traffic, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

After the crash, the victim was taken to a St. Cloud Hospital, where he died.

The incident happened about 6:30 a.m. on Highway 29 south of Starbuck.

The victim's identity was being withheld Monday night pending notification of relatives.

The State Patrol said the driver of the semi, Larry Strand, 54, of Boyd, Minn., was not injured.

The State Patrol said the driver of a third vehicle, James Remund, 26, Montevideo, Minn., was not injured when his pickup slid into the crash.

The roadway was ice covered and slushy at the time of the crash, the State Patrol said.
