WASHINGTON - Fargo Mayor Dennis Walaker was one of three people presented a Phoenix Award for Outstanding Disaster Recovery Efforts during a luncheon held Monday in Washington.
The luncheon was part of the U.S. Small Business Administration's National Small Business Week 2010. Since 1998, the SBA has presented Phoenix Awards to business owners, public officials and volunteers who have displayed selflessness, ingenuity and tenacity in the aftermath of a disaster, while contributing to rebuilding of their communities.
Walaker received the Phoenix Award for Outstanding Contributions to Disaster Recovery by a Public Official for his work to fight spring flooding in Fargo.
