Fargo native Darin Henze won the Judges Choice Award at the MOVA Arts Festival, a songwriting competition in Guntersville, Ala.

Henze, who was a semi-finalist at the contest last year, was recognized for her song, "The Brook." She frequently gives piano concerts at the Plains Art Museum in Fargo and plays at corporate and special events in the area.

The Concordia College graduate has released two CDs of original piano music: "On a Wish" in 2002 and "Gentle Memories" in 2004. Her third CD, "In the Christmas Quiet" will come out this fall.
