FARGO — The Fargo Police Department is warning the public of a Twitter impostor.

The police department tweeted a statement Thursday, June 4, warning people to be on the lookout for a fake Twitter account impersonating them, using what appears to be the exact same username @FargoPolice, screen name, and profile picture. The fake account is not affiliated with the police department or the city of Fargo.

“We are aware a fake Fargo Police @Twitter account has been made,” the Tweet reads. “This fake page is NOT verified or operated by the Fargo Police Department or @cityoffargo. The opinions and messages shared through that platform are not supported by our department or City.”

The fake account, which was created Thursday, has 85 followers as of 12:30 p.m. and is posting anti-police rhetoric.
