Fargo police investigating a report of a car prowler early Tuesday in south Fargo found evidence that someone had rummaged through at least nine vehicles and a garage, all of which had been left unlocked, Sgt. Jim VanLith said.

The investigation began with a call at 1:41 a.m. about a possible car prowler in the 3100 block of 18th Street South.

Officers noticed several cars that had been accessed in a two- to three-block radius, VanLith said. The dome light was left on in some of the vehicles, and one had the door left ajar, he said.

Police were still trying to determine if anything was missing.

Officers didn't find anyone matching the suspect's description in the area, VanLith said.
